about
In the so called United States of America’s Declaration of Independence, Indigenous people of this area are referred to as “merciless Indian savages”. In a document expressing that “all Men are created equal”, the United States of America has explicitly shown time and time again, that Indigenous people of this so called country are not equal. We are the enemy.
lyrics
This is my declaration
About my never ending anger
I was born from fire
That’ll never be stifled
I will never surrender
I will never yield
I will never be conquered
You will never
You never break me
This is my imprint
Of unending fury
Warriors came before me
I will choose their same path
I will never surrender
I will never yield
I will never be conquered
You will never
Laws are created by an unjust nation
Aimed to control
Aimed to disappear
My body is not a battleground
It cannot be regulated
You have no authority
You will never win

Wonderful dramatic opening, the voice of a black woman in all her honesty, vulnerability and openess. And then one of the fiercest tracks of Zulu, total hardcore: 'Now they are through with me', full of twists and turns, and suddenly ending in a kind of soul-track, brilliant! This is 21st century music at it's best. The end lecture is dramatic and disturbing, spoken again by a black woman. Makes you think. Hesperus

I am kicking myself for being so late to this band. I found out about them from their HIRS collaboration and went straight to this album, oh my godddd it is incredible. My turntable stays at 45RPM because I keep putting this one back on. Keep pushing yall. Trillis Schlafly
